Would I seek asylum in Canada? You betcha.

If you have one of these on your fridge, I won't be coming over for dinner.

This scares the bejeebers out of me.

It could happen.

The prospect may seem absurd to you, but I remember so well laughing with my high school friends about Ronald Reagan as a candidate. We weren't laughing on election night.

Palin clearly taps into the anti-intellectual sentiment in America. While President Obama is a smart, well-educated man, Dubya certainly didn't show himself to be any great thinker. It's almost like, in a perverse way, many Americans often favour electing a leader who doesn't appear to be as sharp as them. Is that the American dream? That anyone, no matter how humble their background, no matter how stupid or lazy or mean-spirited, can become president of our nation?

In the words of the late, great H.L. Mencken (who shall forevermore be pictured by me as Gene Kelly, who played him in Inherit the Wind):

No one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public.

Are you worried too?

I would cry and I might consider moving to Kenya if such a thing happened.

It is frightening. On the other hand I'm getting a laugh at her new book title, Going Rogue. Rogue (noun): an inferior or defective specimen among many satisfactory ones"

As we watch the sometimes violent reactions of our fellow Americans to the election of President Obama, I think that it's wise to be wary.

No, no, no. I said I would never visit the US with GW as president and I am quite certain I wouldn't if she was president. Am I allowed to say that?

Patricia - I would visit you there! But I confess I'd probably be an expat elsewhere. Still, I'm open minded. :)

Simple Mama - love it!

Lisa - indeed. I'm less fearful of our current government than some of my fellow citizens.

Emm - of course you are allowed. I will be visiting you in London if it happens, so it makes no sense for you to come here. :)

you won't find that stupid idea on my fridge. I'll never understand McCain's thinking on that one. I think she'll crash and burn by then. She already has done some stupid moves since the election.

Of course, any President is subject to outside forces/events. I'm one of a few that liked Carter but some consider him the worst we had. The Iranians did him in.

too many base their vote on one issue.

TERRIFIED.

I keep thinking that there's NO WAY she'll ever even get CLOSE to the White House, but then reality kicks in and I remember to never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

I'll totally be defecting if she wins the presidency...

Excellent. I'll get in some spare towels and bedding if it happens then.

On MSNBC they were talking about Cheney running in 2012. He-weasel heard this and decided he must get to work on his Canadian citizen appliation( he is eligible).

I remember thinking Canada was a good option when RR was elected, but we did survive that (although we're still paying for it). However, I'm getting a lot less tolerant of stupidity as I get older and have thought of some other nice places to be an ex-pat in the meantime, just in case.

I just don't think it's going to happen. I just have to believe it couldn't happen.

What a frickin' nightmare.

Yikes! but sadly it's no better up here.

Oh my God, if Palin became President, I'd be on the first plane out of here.

I can't even think about it. I think she'd do better trying to get into the Russian political arena (because hey! she can see Russia from Alaska) than to run here. I don't think she'd have a fighting chance. She turned too many (especially women) against her during the last Palin show.

You might also consider England should you need asylum.

It horrifies me to think of her being President. Surely the stupid will not rise again.

For the sake of the USA, i hope it will not happen. That really would seem like a bad, bad joke. Wouldn't be a joke, though.

What is sadder than Sarah Palin is the fact that many many people support and worship her. They are the fuel of her ignorant existence. Not only she is ignorant, she is manipulative. You should watch Michael Moore's "Capitalism" documentary.
